Inasmuch that it's fairly natural to want to belong to a group of people, I tend to find national pride a bit of a childish delusion. One can certainly recognise the achievements made by one's own nation but to live vicariously through the accomplishments of others seems pointless. That's not to say someone shouldn't feel an affection and loyalty to their country's culture and heritage, but a feeling of 'pride' seems to be undeserved.
