I think the "elephant in the room" is the degree of respect, admiration or general feeling people have for one nationality as opposed to others. You can look at a number of social, cultural, technological, and other aspects of some and inevitably draw conclusions about on whom you would prefer to invest time, effort, money or opportunity.

@ericatkinson9285 I wouldn’t even say "I love my people". Any sense of affection or loyalty is usually confined to those that you know.

@letsdiscussitoversometea8479 Yes; I think 'kinship' is more relevant than political boundaries. A fisherman in Cornwall would probably have more in common with a fisherman in Argentina than a stock broker in London.
