If we went through the archives of recent wars, we'd probably find black British nationals who have distinguished themselves and could generally be considered heroes, but what does that mean exactly. People seem to want to live vicariously through the achievements of others for some reason. Personally, I think 'hero' is an over used term at the best of times.
