I'm not at all familiar with the events surrounding Mr Tony Martin (I live in Australia) but I'm fairly sure that there have been cases, particularly in the USA where this sort of thing is classified as 'Justifiable homicide'. I seem to recall a case some years ago where an elderly man had been harassed, threatened and abused along with damage to property for months and months. Despite repeated requests to police for action, nothing was done. He eventually shot and killed a number of the teenagers. Can't honestly remember the judgement but I'm fairly sure he didn't end up in prison.
