I wholeheartedly agree with you, but sometimes it's almost impossible to come back from a fractured relationship. I have, up until recently, had a good relationship with my eldest daughter although being forthright in encouraging her to address her obesity (including paying for gym membership) has made some uncomfortable conversations. A few weeks ago, and out of desperation, I was very direct in my concern regarding the fact she is now 153 kg. She has subsequently (on social media) referred to me as "abusive and toxic". I've tried to reach out to her but despite some 'calming of the waters', I feel that the hate is still there.
