  1. I saw something about a 'cheque' (or 'Check' for our American friends) getting lost in the mail. Who uses cheques these days? I suppose it's marginally better than "The dog chewed up my homework". I think I've been inside a bank once in the last ten years when somebody sent me a cheque, and the ATM failed to scan it to enable a deposit.
