  1. So, the best idea is that the war continues until Russia is defeated, which presumably is very close at hand because they have a butter shortage? I think Trump just sees trying to encourage Zelenskyy in ceding a relatively small area of Ukraine to Russia and stopping the war as first step to peace in the region. A crippled Russia with Ukraine being 'looked after' by those who Putin distrusts is not the way to avoid nuclear war.
