  1. Actually, I can see her point. I'm a guy and if a female shop assistant calls me 'love' or 'darling' I don't care. If a person refers to me as 'mate', I find that rather familiar and dismissive. Certainly in the case she presented where the guy was called 'sir' and she was referred to as 'love' it indicates a lack of respect. Maybe she should have replied "Hello little man".
