It was interesting to see the price of wines, including imported wines which sit around A$6 or A$7 Australian dollars (correct me if I'm wrong). I used a bottle of local wine in the rural town of Mudgee in New South Wales at a Motor Inn (mini-Bar) and it was $40. It's fair enough that they tend to cost it bit more in hotels and motor inns, but I get the feeling they're slapping on even more excise on alcohol to fix their disastrous environmental policy.

@Прекрасныйнезнакомец-п7ю 4 bags of groceries in Australia would likely cost closer to $200. Obviously depends what you buy. Fresh produce items, like fruit and vegetables (in our state) are not subject to goods and services tax (10%) so a bit cheaper.

@hellopossum163 That's on top of the tax you've already paid on the income you've earned. It's an interesting exercise to look at say $100 you earn then look at the tax which comes out of that, then the tax that comes from purchases and see how much actually remains.
