When it is used wrong is when it is a pain in the backside 1500mm instead of 1.5meters? Measuring in mm is like measuring in 1/16 of an inch(nobody does that)because we use bigger units.

the Egyptians took nothing from Nobody. The Egyptians followed the cycle of the sun and stars and counted the number of days in a year to be 365 1/4 days per year. This they did for thousands of years so they were spot on the money...by watching the movement of the stars at night(the horoscope) for the Nile flooded at the same time every year so being off a day would add up until the whole calendar was wrong. The Egyptian farmers relied on the seasonal flooding of the Nile river to water their lands for next seasons planting. This knowledge of time was passed to Julius Caesar when him and Cleo were dating. The Romans were using the Lunar calendar so it was always wrong for a year measurement. The secret of time was passed onto Rome and became what we have today. . I am not saying the Babylonians did not figure out time too. If they were into sun worship then they would have noticed the repetition of the movement of the stars during the year. . The Maya & Aztecs were also sun worshippers and they too figured out the year to have 365 1/4 days per year. As for the 24 hours maybe 12hours of night and 12 hours of daylight on the shortest winter day? I don't want to Google something anyone can do. The Vikings got in their 2 bits with Sunday, Moonday, Tuesday, Odins day, Thors day, Friday, Saturn day (though the Romans got their 2 bits in too) Time took time to invent.
