Mid 70's? I was using a Univac Computer terminal at an educational facility as computers in those days took up an entire room>a clean room< and the computer cost +$10,000.00. I saw the computer as a "fancy electric typewriter" so it had no "future". . I mainly played Golf on it. Problem is written out. "First hole is on a 15 degree downslope and at a distance of of 650 yards." What club would you like? Putter. What degree of stroke would you want? (it is a circle so I could pick 720 degrees) How much power 1-10? I chose 10. ENTER. Computer reports back that you have hit the ball1650 yards down the fairway and are 1000 yards from the hole. What club would you like? 1 iron. Degree of stroke? 799. Power = 9 ENTER. Computer reports that now I am 4000 yards from the hole. What club would you like? There was no visual pictures so it is just written words. Computers are so "dry" in reporting results. Great time waster as there was no card games yet...so I was not really interested in getting it in the hole. You are now 1,760 yards from the holes. What club would you like? 8 Power = 1 Degree of stroke 5 degrees. You have hit the ball 18 inches. I never looked at the computer as anything serious. (Bill Gates, had not started MS yet nor Apple with personal computers. And like the first computers were $5000. Yeah, I can buy a Vette for that money. No internet either. That had not been invented yet. And yet without that computer tech, the Soviets were the first man in space, first dog in space, first satellite that orbited the earth(Sputnik). Without a computer. Move the goal posts the U.S. did. No longer was it a space race (U.S. lost). Now it was to reach the moon? It is costly and the economy of the USSR is 1/4 the size of the U.S. so the capital cash was not there. Missing from the statement is that the U.S. ALSO used German technology to get their rockets up. That is why both the U.S. and the USSR had rockets at the same time and both had nuclear weapons at the same time. >German tech<because of the GERMANS.

@Uneedhelp91 Called MONEY. Yet the Russians did have many rockets that did ferry U.S. Astronauts to the ISS. when the U.S. couldn't. Several times.
