Some oil is better than no oil. I used 90W gear oil because it was the only OIL I could get where I was at. That was used oil that they dump on dirt roads to keep the dust down. Beggars can't be choosers. Middle of nowhere was the road crew. It stunk but got me another 500 miles to a town.

Did you check the RATE OF galvanic corrosion? You will be dead 5 times over before it "might" be a concern. (Like in aircraft.) VW & Vega & Asian cars & motorcycles (& others) use aluminum and steel interchangeably, Like it is not a Concern even if you have the machine for +40 years.

That is common with "red". On red painted cars, red goes to hell sooner cuz of the sun. Merc. trucks were always red, which soon became chalky red and faded red over the years. The UV additive to the paint still does not help on red, it has something to do with the light ray spectrum from the sun. Science stuff. Painters know some schit.

I figured the trimmer line wore out too quickly, so I have an acoustic guitar so used the G string from a steel wire guitar. Definitely was SAVAGE. Tougher than any weed or tree or bare feet or unprotected leg. I am experimenting for myself. Had to manually cut to length with wire cutters.

I use regular dino oil. It has improved since the 70's so all my cars lasted as long as "I WANTED THEM" Of course there was the natural oil burners but I knew that before I bought them (British Leyland Motors) and there was a way to reduce the oil consumption by using thicker oil was the usual trick. Engine was not worth rebuilding so just checked the oil level daily as it also leaked. After 3 to 5 years it was time to change to another used car. Buy for a couple hundred and sell for a couple of hundred(fixing I did myself so never calculated the cost of my time or parts into it) , My 07 Honda has a mileage minder as to when to change the oil which seems to be close to 6000miles. I change the oil filter too because it is cheap. Don't care. Use Wally's recycled oil product because it is cheap.

$450 was spent in designing the carry case(WHICH SHOULD CARRY FREE COLD BEER FOR LIFE)

@poeticsilence047 Initially when that claim came out, I was breaking my 1/2" drive ratchet (breaking off the square drive) Twice. They handed me a repair kit for it and I disassembled it and replaced the broken parts. Then used the 4 foot iron cheater pipe on the wrench handle to get the nut off on suspension. Did not have an impact driver or "heat"(which would have been the way to go)

@1djbecker Really? You worry about the next owner? He bought it. It is HIS PROBLEM.
3
" I can just imagine how manufacturers be shaking in their boots" WE ARE GONNA TEST THAT. is 5 most scariest words.
3
Check out "BOLTR" or "AVE" on YT Different guy different tests different stuff & he has a hell of a lot of knowledge. His language may be harsh(I call normal) so he also does not have sponsors nor does he flucking care. You never see him as he is not promoting him. He checks out new electrical equipment.

BOSCH no longer means "made in Germany"? SAD Chinesium is just not that good

I just put string or wire or nail through the hole and see if the blade has a HEAVY END. COST of string or wire or nail=free.

@equsnarnd Opioids is a petrochemical drug. China supplies Opium, some-thing they grow - totally unrelated drug. Do some research and you will know most medications made is from petro-chemists...so home made. Cocaine comes from cacao plant in South America and Marijuana is a weed that can be dried and smoked, (not unlike tobacco or another weed) The government disallows Marijuana because they are unable to tax something everybody can grow in their garden.

mixing Hydrochloric acid with sulfuric acid and you get an acid(aqua regis) that dissolves GOLD. Pretty sure that is not what is clogging your plumbing. So hard on the Gold toilet finish.

at night people do not see the tape.

If the engine is running, why should it be clean? Does it even matter?Seems the build up of Carbon increases the compression which is what we are shooting for and carbon is a lubricant similar to graphite or soot...so no harm there.Where is there a need for the insides to be clean? I don't plan to eat off the surface. Maybe you should FIRST EXPLAIN "WHY" you need to get the carbon off. It does not seem to be an issue with the engine designers. ,Are the makers of the product "CREATING AN IMAGINED PROBLEM?" to sell the product?

@MrMasahhh That's easy. The bolt hole that strips is on the outer edge(of course) where no meat can be added as the piece is a certain size...to fit into a certain size location. Sometimes it is "JUST THAT WAY." Such as on aluminum oil pans. A small square of steel is inserted in the factory under 40,000lbs pressure(lets just say "A Lot of pressure" and the part fit is that tight that oil does not leak past. The insert May be no larger than the copper washer that goes between the steel oil plug and the engine. Copper is reusable, rubber gaskets use only once.(sometimes the washer metal is aluminum(which is also soft & found on Asian cars/motorcycles...is also reusable. Choice is used the product or buy a new oil pan (or engine) One is cheaper. If it is an oil plug, usually they "you" cross threaded them in instead of starting it by hand and screw it all the way down by hand BEFORE USING A TOOL. The chemical ones are certainly good enough for an oil drain plug...those that have some resistance. No need to reef on it to break the 5/8" bolt. . If it is a head bolt ? I would question the strength of that but on a gas car it is probably no more than 150pounds of torque(on average)or an exhaust bolt (35lbs of torque) into the head then you want to helicoil it. Price out the cost of a new head. <You will go heli coil insert and have a machine shop do it>.

@Panthers89Fan9000000 "Small engines always use/used carburetors. Small engines need repair more frequently because they use carburetors." Introducing VW 1972 Fuel Injection gasoline 1600cc 4 cylinder. Before them were diesel engines 4 cylinders or 2 cylinder in FARM EQUIPMENT that only worked with non turbo Fuel Injection. I had a 1980VW Diesel Rabbit that I clocked a Million miles and it still ran just fine. Small engines just mean a smaller car. Many European cars are diesel. Peugeot was always diesel. Mercedes is mainly diesel. . As for Ethanol - the gas companies had to get the LEAD out so they need a replacement for Lead so the fuel burns evenly. Ethanol increased the octane and provided an even clean burn (instead of engine knock from preignition)-smaller engine owners try to increase their horsepower by increasing the compression ratio meaning they break down sooner. I don't mess with that cuz I don't care about high performance - otherwise I would have bought a race car (but it is useless at work so got a practical car instead. One that can go "Off road" as well as being on road...and really off the off road (goat trails or I imagine I can fit through there) in the woods on road that were in active use 70+ years ago but now it is overgrown with small trees that scratch the bottom of the car like a belly rub. I never had a problem with carburetors. Easier to get a car to start when you can pour a cup of gas down the carb and fire it up. Only sat for a few years abandoned. Fuel injection =where do I put the fuel to jump start the pig? Never had to do that YET because no vehicle near me that has been abandoned...and old and FREE to fruck with. I have been driving small cars since 1967 so fiddling with them since '67(it is my car to experiment with). Can I fix cars-the old ones yes & the newer ones not so much. Gas or diesel, small engine or Caterpillar bulldozer diesels. I-L4,chainsaws,pancake4,motorcycles 2 stroke,4 stroke I-L6, I-L8, V6 & V8 through PRACTICAL HANDS ON EXPERIENCE. No papers. Don't care. I know when the mechanic is full of B.S. in his assessment to the problem. Some are real wankers. Should try to be politicians. They know just as much.

@greenidguy9292 There is such a thing as white gas. Camping supplies. Nothing to do with pump gas.Naptha gas N.A.

Well, it does outclass every other drill; $550 is the sale price.

That is not even all of them. There is one that forms a star with 5 legs. The first one I ever used. All metal, zinc plated. Hole size when it fails would be 5 inch hole

The only problem I had with that "test" is that you did not know the Grade of the Vintage oil (which I would assume to be 30W30) That is what cars used in those days...no multigrades, no detergents. Then you compared it to modern oil with a weight of 10W40? Of course the 10W is going to be first down the race track. You still can buy "30W straight" motor oil. w/o detergents. Compare apples to apples. The green colorant is something the manufacturers put in the oil so you can see it on the dipstick. Has no other meaning. Quaker did it maybe to go with the color scheme on the can? Other old oil brands didn't spend the money to do that. Been driving since the 50's and doing my own oil changes using various brands - QS, Shell, Sears, or other brands on sale. Multi grade did not exist yet so it was 30 for summer use and 20 for winter use cuz I am in Alaska.

My pliers are made in England. Never broke the handle. Was cutting concrete nails on a dulled edge . Pliers were in a vise by the same company. The tool was meant for copper or aluminum wire not cutting nails. Still got it over 40+ years.
1
Why is it 2 have 2 different bolts? When I buy a box of bolts the thread count is the same. Yet you show a coarse bolt with 16 threads and compare it to a bolt that is a fine thread with 24. <The acid wash really did some damage.> you are confusing the issue...and test. In the test you do not use motor oil which is in the oil can that I refill. Brake fluid is less available than auto transmission fluid or engine oil (2 stroke or 4 stroke). Then again I may have diesel or kerosene around to use as a lubricating liquid. My mom uses cooking oil...because that is what she commonly has available in the kitchen to lube hinges or electric analog clocks that make noise. Yes it attracts flies that go inside to feed on the oil and they become part of the Lube. 120Volt Clock still works after 66 years and not lose a second. I am not going to go out and buy a lube when something else will do. I suspect the best anti rust ones have silicone in them. . strange you don't have snake oil..
1
Why flush out perfectly good lubricant.? If anything the next time you do a hot oil change most of the bacon grease will come out. It looks as though the 2 types of oils will work together. Just stop at McDonalds and ask for some old cooking oil.

My machinist friend never uses a drill bit right out of the box. 50+years experience. He grinds them sharper...because factory sharpening IS A JOKE. The machinist drills through tons of metal so he knows how to hand sharpen the drill on the grindstone. No specific make. I learned how to do it once in school - have forgotten that talent and always have one flute edge cutting more than the other. When you had to add more weight, I could see the point was not cutting anymore...so the drills are dull. Most of my drill bits cut into wood okay and even aluminum or copper. Steel is marginal.
1
Now try STP oil treatment. The stuff is as thick as honey. As Kerosene is the winter fuel for diesel I figure the lubricity is going to be about the same as diesel.
1
I noticed that was a Fed-alloy grade bolt you were threading into the cut threads to see the slop. Maybe should have done a measure on a "Fed" nut(made in a factory) for the bolt to see how much play there was there in the stock NUT "fit". I mean the entire test is to be as close to the factory nut threads, right? So what is that slop fit? So we know what to shoot for and what is acceptable. The more bite the better. The 2 different thread cuts cannot be compared as the 24 is a finer thread compared to a coarse thread of 18. . What do machinists actually use? I know their "slop" is almost nothing.

The Hammer loop test - WHO CARRIES AROUND A 180LB HAMMER? The biggest I carry is 2 1/2lb and in my hands.
1
When I wore my steel toe boots on a job - of course the object that fell down missed the steel toe and went into my foot at about at the place he was cutting them apart. Like the steel toe "could be" longer and thicker. They are not walking shoes, so there is no need for flex behind the toes. Build them stiff like downhill ski boots, we workers still can walk in them. Still have the punctured boots(just siliconed the hole where it went through (like what is the chance I will hit that spot a second time?) - now that I am paying attention and "thinking about possible injury"?

Yet OUTDOORS such as in a rain gutter...NONE OF THEM DO STICK TO GALVANIZED METAL...over a winter freeze. ROOFING tar is the best choice...that you brush on.

@berengerchristy6256 It is not all BEEF. and then it has to be packaged

@RecklessFables Domestically hostile? The DH is going to affect U 1st before the SH would or could or cared enough to even bother with U.

I have a down filled jacket because I work. My body generates the heat which is sufficient. whether it be working of snow skiing. @-40F it ain't fit for man nor beast. So another day. My clothes come out of Tutoyaktuk, NWT

@02hreblue30 Way, way, way, older than Dinosaurs. The plants grew on the land first. Forests grew up and died and fell over and it was repeated time and time again BEFORE ANYTHING LIVING MADE IT ONTO THE SHORE to feed on the greens. The greens which have lived and died and fallen over into swamp water to compost into a hydro CARBON. Then the mountains moved over the land and covered some of these swamps or inland seas under hundreds of feet of rock and time and earth heat and fermentation made either oil or coal. We have proved that as we have made it in the laboratory. using heat and extreme pressure. We just have no device to change time. .What do you think synthetic oil is made from? Basically the same oil. The Germans made the first synthetic oil as they had no oil, but they had coal oil and vegetable oil and animal fats so they worked with what they had to produce the oil and fuel to keep machines running during WW2.

Made in the U.S. from global ingredients tells me it comes from every-where. However you are comparing apples and oranges when you are comparing different chemicals . One said alkyd enamel. Others do not say what they are for a chemical paint. I use tar. or undercoating. Making sure it is NOT LATEX(waterbased paint). -the logic to apply a waterbased paint to metal escapes me. Is not TREMCLAD sold in the U.S.? That is the go to rust paint that is NOT WATER BASED.

RECORD was my vise name(made in England) Was a 4" vise. I used a 4 foot cheater bar on the handle to hold the part. It broke the vise. Could not dent it. Super well made. I bought a 5" Harbor freight one & broke the replaceable jaw where the screw is on one side so had to glue the jaw back on. It will do. Definitely cannot beat on the jaw like I could the "Record" which was smaller and 40 years old.

Yeah BUT what about the torque wrenches that have a needle and no ratchet head? They were $50 in the day. Click wrench was not available YET. I bought my Craftsman wrenches in the 70's? Wheel bolts are armstrong tight. Steel on Steel. Certainly have used the torque wrench for head bolts on diesel engines or inch/lbs on motorcycle engines. Have not done 1000 torques nor planning on it before I hit the casket. Nor do I keep count. The way I understand it, torque wrenches are NOT ACCURATE AT THE MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM points. & 50 is like at the Minimum measurement. Which is why I have an inch/lb torque wrench. This is basically a hand wrench tightness...so not highly critical. I believe the 250lb(too lazy to check) would be maxing out my foot pound torque wrench so again I would NOT USE IT.

How hard are 3 ir 4" concrete nails ---the nails that take a sledge hammer blow to be driven into a concrete wall or floor? They are cheaper than cutting through tools. Really quite hard to even cut through with a hack saw. Usually ruin the saw blade. & yeah I do take them to the break the handle event as I put on cheater pipes onto the handles But if it is that hard I would use a hacksaw or a oxy/acetylene cutting torch. Which one was the German one? You failed to mention that. I heard China,China,China, Japan, none from India...interesting.
1
As the battery is suppose to replace the gas powered chainsaws, how fast does a gas powered do? THAT SHOULD BE THE COMPARISON AGAINST. Not against a Saws-all . YT search AVE. He shows you what mini saws are good for.
1
I use a cheater pipe and a strong socket. Rust by itself is a lubricant. Or I break the stud off.

In my short experience with it, I found Gorilla glue would bond steel to paint or to rubber. LePage 2 component epoxy could not do that and that was the only other one I tried. . I was using the Gorilla glue that expands, but I put on a thin layer of glue (about the thickness of a layer of paint) onto the metal molding for my car so it just had to hold that chrome metal on a curved fender near the headlight on a '65 MGB. I did not need it (or wanted it) to foam. It held to paint and to rubber and other surfaces that normally are not glued together. Clips or rivets hold it in place.(before doublesided sticky tape) Strength not required. It was a convenient epoxy and lasted a "year" in the container without going hard. Keeping it dark and cool helped so I could use it later as it is pricey stuff.
1
Surprised you did not have McCulloch chainsaws. They have been around FOREVER. Before plastic.
1
When the glue holds to the point of the WOOD failing, then you need better wood I guess. I am more a solid piece of wood guy. Once you cut it too short GET ANOTHER BOARD.
1
That is why I have an oil stone to sharpen the razor blade. a couple of strokes. I cannot see paying .79 cents per blade compared to 20 cents.
1
Stud finder behind drywall can be done with a hammer and listening to the wall tone. How do these machines compare when trying to find behind plastered walls? Lathe, 1/2" concrete+ 1/2" plaster ( like done in older 40's style homes.?) Most reno's are done on older homes of the plastered generation.
1
This is very similar to the Pogue carburetor design for cars. Thinking in terms of vapor. You should have inspected the spark plug. It would have gone white if fuel is too lean.
1
Canadian gas must be different. 7 years later and could still kick start a 2 stroke motorcycle after 4 kicks, though it did stink & was a gutless wonder. That cleared up when I added in premium gas to regular gas.
1
I remember ATF added to motor oil to rejuvenate the rubber rear seal on the crankshaft was the story going around. Nothing about cleaning up the carbon. Just give it a long hard drive uphill in both directions, same motor oil than you normally use.. When you said ATF has mineral oil in it?, you can get mineral oil from the local drug store. It is taken for constipation...so can be mixed with water. Used as a lubricant in an engine? I don't think it goes with gasoline.
1
HHO or when written in Chemistry H2O aka water. What is missing is the OH(alcohol) or HOOH(aka ethanol) Why not try a tank of compressed H2 gas instead of the mickey mouse toy? See if adding additional Hydrogen is better than compressed Oxygen gas. Pure Hydrogen does not burn. Oxygen does, so you need a welding torch tip with spark arrestor built in so does not ignite the tank and TEST IT. It can be done. Then this insanity can be put to bed.
