  2. I noticed that was a Fed-alloy grade bolt you were threading into the cut threads to see the slop. Maybe should have done a measure on a "Fed" nut(made in a factory) for the bolt to see how much play there was there in the stock NUT "fit". I mean the entire test is to be as close to the factory nut threads, right? So what is that slop fit? So we know what to shoot for and what is acceptable. The more bite the better. The 2 different thread cuts cannot be compared as the 24 is a finer thread compared to a coarse thread of 18. . What do machinists actually use? I know their "slop" is almost nothing.
