The 2 stroke motor is not outlawed in California, otherwise that would kill weed wackers, chainsaws, mopeds, 2 stroke motorcycles, also older 4 stroke Nissan cars(aka Datsun), old high mileage Fords, Chevs, Dodges, and any other car or truck...that burns oil. Besides after the break in period which may be a couple of tanks then the fuel mixture is with less oil which is normal with all 2 stroke engines(and even 4 stroke engines)

@rotsdogdogkitty1150 You were riding what is called a motorcycle(also classed as a motor vehicle). Not allowed to ride on the sidewalk with a motor vehicle. Also if you ride a motor vehicle - you NEED A LICENSE and Insurance and it needs to be registered and plated like it was a MOTORCYCLE. . A moped has to be "UNDER 50cc and can not go faster than 29 MPH." It is also not suppose to use the sidewalks. A moped is a motor assisted "pedal cycle". So it aids you to go up hills, as you can also pedal to help the motor to climb the hill. Generally speaking it is meant to be driven on the road(not the bicycle lane)(but sometimes you can get away with that if there is no bicycles on that section)...but never to be driven on the highway. It is more an in the neighborhood type bike...like adult communities or that tight of neighborhood. . Definitely not something I would want to drive a far distance. For that, I would get a motorcycle-400cc size. . Yeah, helmet rules apply as also being on the main road. $2000? I can see that. I definitely would not ride a tiny toy like that around on the roadways. A passing vehicle can "blow you off" the road as they are so light. Now you know. . Obviously you did not read the operators manual at your local DMV as you would have found all this out. 2 stroke, 4 stroke, rotary, Electric powered It is all the same in the eyes of the cop and the courts.
