  2. German made stuff is made to tight tolerances. If it is sloppy built it does not pass final inspection of "quality". It does not matter if it is a TANK and passes the quality test and once outside the door the "first" bomb blows it to smithereens. They have to build another one to exacting measurements( so this quality building thinking process leads to slow output of tanks.(or rifles) or artillery, etc. as everything is hand machined and fitted. That is the German way. . Russia built lower quality in the finish of the tanks "but it still works like a tank" Russia could build 25 for each 1 that Germany built. . Just in sheer numbers, the Russians outproduced the Germans. & the T-55 is still used TODAY.(meaning it still works)[ That is without the lend lease arrangement worked out with the U.S. Russian arms factories were all over the country so to organize them and send them by RAIL took a bit of time.
