@9:21 THAT is NOT the GREAT PYRAMID. It was built AFTER the Great Pyramid was built. The G.P. was built on lower ground & it does not have any Tura Limestone cladding on it like this does. This pyramid shown in the image is smaller than the G.P. and the third pyramid is even smaller. The G.P. is missing the capstone which is the very peak of the pyramid. The G.P. has the "grand gallery" in it and what you see the cross sections of the interior. The G.P. has 8 sides. The pyramid you see is for Khafre is the second largest.
---Robert Shoch(shock) a geologist put forth the possibility that the Sphinx is much older than any of the pyramids because of the erosion pattern on the side of the Sphinx enclosure which is chiseled like a pit around the Sphinx. (I have seen "identical" erosion patterns on newly constructed highways in my area where fresh earth lay exposed to the frequent rains in "my area" As Egypt is a desert, the only time there would have possibly been rain or flooding would be the Younger Dryas, which occurred circa 12,900 to 11,700 years Before Present day. That is going by science instead of Egyptian scholars(who need to keep the storyline going) They don't study science. . It would have had to be alot of rain(or water running over the edge of the pit as in a flood event to leave the wear marks that is evident) as limestone is harder than recently moved soil.
. Also the weather was different and Egypt was tropical rainforest so much vegetation grew.
. Because the Egyptians were so good at getting correct proportions on their statues, then the head is disproportionately the wrong size (meaning that the head of a Lion would better fit the body and paws. This whole statue was not built, so may have been a high rocky outcropping and a Pharaoh was a narcissist and had his image replace the original face. Which Pharaoh? We have no idea as the face does not resemble any of the images of any of the Pharaohs. We have statues of them all, even Khufu.(aka Cheops)even if it is a small 2" statue found in his pyramid up in the upper reaches of his pyramid, so we assume it is him. Egyptians were never known to pay homage to a lion. Lions are not found in deserts.
.. AFAIK Rameses2 may have been as old as Pepi2
.. The pyramids as tombs? The only one for certain is the Step Pyramid, and when the pharaoh died, they dug a hole 100 feet under the pyramid, like they did for mastabas.(which is a tombstone laid flat(so 1 layer high)...over a few sandstorms and it is buried & forgotten. I guess the dude for the step Pyramid did not want to be forgotten, ergo the height. Still, there was no indication that burial rituals changed. Once down about 100 feet 2 rooms were cut out(a larger one for pharaoh and a smaller one for offerings(which were stolen in antiquity) & so was the mummy. This hole in the ground would have been dug with stone & wood tools(before the bronze age) Then after the pharaoh & his offerings were placed in the hole. The hole was filled up with rock chips & sand 100 feet to the surface and then the pyramid was closed back up so no one knew the entranceway to the "hole". This is why they think it was the priests & workers that robbed the king of everything...and that is the only hole modern research has found. As for the pyramids being tombs=that is contested to this day.
.. Once they figured out they were being defiled, they moved to the Valley of the Kings. King Tut was there carved into the limestone bedrock. Easier to hide the entrance to them, only the workers knew where it was. King Tut had such a short reign and was buried in a lesser nobles tomb already prepared for him....and the entrance way was flooded over with the seasonal rains, he was almost forgotten. Luck was on Lord Stanley's side as it was the last day of the dig and he was going to give up when they found the top step. The rest is history.
