  1. It's a diesel. Of course it burns oil. That is normal. Black engine oil is normal right after an oil change. I don't wear gloves so yeah it is soot black. I had 1M miles on my diesel. I kept records...as the odometer does 99,999.9 and then it would flip over to 00,000.0. Oil was black since new, and I changed oil every 5,000 miles.
