@wisedragon173 Carthage precedes the Bible. As Rome was the teller of the story, of course they are going to make the enemy WORSE in their practices than Rome, after all Carthage was a "different civilization". So of course they will bad mouth them. Meaning the Roman account cannot be taken at the word of the Romans. The winners tell the war their way. This gives them support from their own people in $$ . The dude would not be taking only Rome's account of what Carthage was; for a civilization...but acquiring other sources as well. Say the Greek Empire that precedes Rome, as they had ships that cruised the Mediterranean Sea, and the Egyptians...and other ancient sites. . This is no different than how the western allies demonized the Nazi's or the Fascists in Italy...to give western troops a reason to fight. Basically; propaganda. . Rome was a very militaristic type Empire. The fact that it could not co-exist with Carthage meant it was not a DEAL MAKER. It was all "Me, me,me"

Taking off the nose was the FASTEST way to disfigure a statue so you cannot tell what the face actually looks like. What if the SPHINX in Egypt had a schnoz like Jimmy Durante? You would not recognize the face without the nose. Ancient Egypt did this so that the mummy would not be recognized by the pictures or statues. "Nope, it is a different dude" Put this one in the "Voldemort" pile.
