I realize that this is somewhat off topic (but IS on topic).
So, what is a jail sentence? They are isolated from public gatherings, from drinking, from driving, from working, from shopping for food, from paying taxes, from paying utility bills, from medical bills. I understand in prison they still have internet access(for FREE) (FREE medical) (FREE dental) do not have the right to vote, FREE lodgings or toilet paper. So, they don't vote...(which seems to be quite a bother to do.)so, not a big loss.
. Basically the working stiff has to pay taxes to house these clowns, the working stiff has to work to pay for living.(food, medical care, insurance, car, fuel for car, and he may be married so he has to pay for her stuff and the kids education; so he may be slogging in the mines 10-12 hour days 6 days a week. My dads job type was in construction & because he was a finisher, occasionally Sunday was also a half-day of work. Public gatherings were not something done, driving to and from work was his time off of work. He worked at home cleaning up & getting ready for the next day. (which PERSON has the prison sentence)? Then there is property taxes, clothing, etc. which all add up.
. AFAIK prisoners don't have to do any of that and get 3 squares a day.
.-. The WHOLE system of prison has to be LOOKED AT.(these guys are laying on their backs watching TV) How is that detrimental ? It seems like a free holiday resort(compared to LIVING each day and paying your way)
Lets say Rhodes serves his 25 year jail term. When he gets out he will be shuffled to an old age retirement village (now he will be 82) to serve out the remainder of his life because he is too old to work. So, along the way in the last days he will get SS checks to now pay for (room& board) or some other government aid. THIS SYSTEM IS TOTALLY BROKEN.
