Rand is a headline reader. He gets paid to read the article (not "just the headline") If he read further he would see "WHY" the test are being done. The idea came from "somewhere" & that somewhere was Marvel Comics. Someone wondered about "that ability". - "WHY" would there be an experiment about a gloved steel hand & snapping the fingers? It takes the imagination of a writer to envision ANYTHING otherwise we would still be dragging stuff in the dirt(because the wheel had not been invented yet) nor the pencil or paper. Hell, we would not have invented politicians.
