Shat my pants? Who wears pants? Not a tribal custom.

It is "Open Pit" mining. When all the ore is taken out then is left the PIT. Usually it fills with water to become a Lake. This one(Grasberg) still has equipment at the bottom like trucks and sheds so she ain't done yet according to Google Earth pictures We have those same kind of pits/lakes in N.A. or Europe or Asia. We used to do it with donkey cart or mule train. Took longer.

Subs don't sail - they sink. AFAIK

Plants absorb the micronutrients in the rocks to survive. Some roots split a mountain of rock(aka erosion) Other plants root on the exposed new rock as it has a nutrient they need to survive...like calcium or phosphorus. Rain helps in dissolving this mineral and the plant absorbs it and gets bigger. You might have travelled on Route 66 a old disused portion of the highway and seen plants poking out from under the pavement - they broke to the surface. If given long enough a tree like plant will take the place of the grass like shrubbery. It is not a fast process. . Yes, roots do stabilize hillsides. You know that after a fire has ripped through the area killing the trees and shrubs so the roots die. In the following rainstorms much dirt is shifted down the mountainside. It would have been held there by grass roots cept they died in the fire too. I had a forest fire in my area and it burnt down pine trees to several feet under the forest floor(8-10feet) It was amazing to see afterwards. It is not like Smokey the Bear ads where black tree trunks still stand. These trunks were GONE AND UNDERGROUND LIKE GOFER holes. That was a fast burn as the ground was dry as there was no rain for a couple of weeks, so no greenery under the forest trees.

Since when is a Seafaring tune Russian? They all have the same melody.

"how fragile the submarine is" They are fragile NEW. They do not bang into rocks. When you see it out of the water, she is rusting away so getting weaker. I Appreciate the strength of the rocks that are able to cut it open like a sardine can. All damage can be repaired, just a little extra BONDO, but museums want the original structure....otherwise they could build a wooden copy of the identical sub...and you would not know the difference. Like Hollywood does all the time.

Download and install BRAVE browser. No ads. I can watch a 6 hour movie with no ads (except the ads the producers of the films flaunt in the vids) Try it. I don't get paid for telling you this, I got tired of ads in FF & GC so I typed in "ad free browsers" & hit enter. I keep the other browsers in the tray just in case some site sees the auto ad blocker. Some sites do, so you HAVE TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT BROWSER THAT ALLOWS ADS. So far YT has had given me no grief.

The music MAY BE THERE to hide the SWEARING OF THE MEN. Sailors are the worst, don'tchaknow?

Yeah, I was expecting a Highway Tow (but I saw it made more sense to go by water or maybe move the town closer to the sub?
1
What? You don't like "Row, Row, Tug your sub ...Gently out of the water." It is what sailor so, they sing to attract fish...and gives them a reason to drink.

Let's say it was found in NYC. Open pit mine is the cheapest option and takes out 5 square MILES of downtown. Buildings are pushed over as waste rock overburden. Not an option, is it?

Not in your lifetime

800kg +200kg = 1 tonne (1 ton=2000pounds) 1 tonne=2,200pounds (commonly referred to as "long ton"). IT MATTERS . If 10 turbines were put up, you would be missing 2000pounds of rare earth....you paid for 10 but only 9 work.

I never saw any Land Rovers in Australia? I was driving VW air cooled engine. Also I think the VW slug bug was a bigger hit than the Mine Cooper. Bug was part car part jeep. However the UniMog is interesting. They start off...it can run on kerosene or jet fuel (which IS kerosene) .

Obviously, it is NOT A TRAIN.

black sand can be separated from gold by letting it dry to get out the water AND THEN USING A CHEAP MAGNET- that says the black sand is iron oxide. Rare earths take more than a magnet to get them out. But we have mined in many places so there is much "tailings" What is actually in that "waste" after going for the zinc, lead, magnesium, iron. They said it was waste rock....but, is it?
1
Tesla is building motors that do not require rare earth metals. Narrator said so. Listen again.
1
We have machines that can do it on the cheap.
1
Those would be rare asteroid elements, would they not?
1
Rare earth elements are not affected by magnetism. What you found was most likely FOOL'S GOLD OR MICA.
1
The only miracle of gold is that it does not rust (aka oxidize) Oxidized connections do not conduct an electric current. Smart phone will not work once it rusts. The air you breathe has humidity in it so that gets everywhere.

What rainforest? To get a road in up to a naked mountain ridge? What contamination as all the rock was pounded down into dirt size and all of it transported out by pipe and conveyor belt to the ships to be loaded on as it is a chemical wash to extract a few grams of gold per ton. Displacement of the natives? They were the ones driving the trucks. Nobody lives on the high ridges, including no game animals so the natives are where the food roams around in the jungles. No jungles on mountain tops or stone ridges. Maybe go up snow ski hills in the summer time and you would see a lot of rock...and not even a mouse.

That is just their highways. - Swamp, hill, snow, lake...just to get to the store for a smoke.
