  1. WHY I watched. I realize that I did the same thing - in that I did not take any water or coffee or food with me as I traveled from Perth up across the Nullarbor Bight in my car getting to Central Australia and then headed up to Ayers Rock not stopping for a drink along the way. I had nothing...and car is air cooled VW Type 3 station wagon. Having water or enough tools to repair a flat tire...I had none of that. Never even considered that. Perth to Alice Springs is 3,181km (35hours)not on all paved roads. It wasn't sand either. Had more the consistency of white flour(though it was brown flour) so a very fine dust. So car windows stayed shut & I hi-balled it(like what a 17year old would do first time overseas.) No planning at all. Temperature is +45C at Christmas/ New Years (totally opposite to N.A.) so maybe the reason I did not see any camels at mid day or red boomers, so I never left the car. Which may have been a good thing...who knew that every bug or snake was poisonous? Or the ocean water had sharks and poisonous jellyfish. So, did not miss a thing. NEXT TIME. Did not see cars on the road either. I was travelling during the daylight as you can see farther down the road as VW stock headlights are the "pits" and the roos come out at dusk. I was not set up to hit one of those at 70MPH(110Kph) Also had NO AC Holy Smokes. Just realized I avoid death due to thirst.(50years ago) as there are no watering holes along the way...and it never rained.
