Leif was a troublemaker in Denmark, so he sailed to Iceland, got in a bar fight and was booted out of that colony, he went West & discovered Greenland and after awhile caused trouble that he was kicked out of that community and he went further West to Newfoundland, where he set up camp. Viking longhouses remain, then went further west to Labrador, Canada where he found it being populated by people already. So he turned around and went back to Denmark. He had trouble with people. He did write of lands farther to the west. Christopher Columbus heard of the Norse tales. & based his going west on the Viking explorers 500 years prior to Chris setting sail on a more southerly route. Where he landed(he almost missed the continent and would have discovered Cuba.) And where the Vikings landed they almost missed the continent by going too far North. Ice stopped them from going farther North. . Greenland is a continent by itself...not North American continent. N.A. will claim it as theirs if they could but it is the world's largest (non-continent) island is located between the continents of North America and Europe in the North Atlantic Ocean.

  2. If you had a swimming pool and you filled it to the brim with cold water(ocean water temp now) and you heat that water up a few degrees = you pool would overflow as warm water expands too. In the case of the planet = higher sea levels means water rising by feet. Better invest in FUTURE beachfront property in the mountain regions. Add to it the ice water melt and it will be like the last DRYAS period where water was running into the enclosure of the Sphinx in Egypt. Florida would be gone. Water evaporates off the oceans & seas around the world every hour which is why we get precipitation. Sydney Australia is under 3 feet of rain water right now, so is China.   3. Estimated - Could - We guess - Assume - Hope -...Yeah, calculate all you want "on a dream" Why should Greenland be that magical answer to your problems? Melting ice "could" also release frozen viruses and diseases we have never experienced before, thus wiping out the population of the planet. Nature has the last laugh. . Good thing it is CENTURIES DOWN THE ROAD. I will be dead. Ancient dinosaurs may be in that ice keeping "fresh" . We can't see accurately through ice to figure it out yet. We have to wait. . In the meantime, maybe we make artificial rare earth elements or find a substitute to them? Right now, the white of Greenland is REFLECTING THE SUNLIGHT AWAY...instead of absorbing it and warming up.
