It has been stated several times before the old people were eating dog food because it was cheaper (during good times) as the old people figured it is safe for the dog so it must be safe for human consumption. Horse meat or cow meat...there is really no difference and animal food makers cannot afford to poison dogs as THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE IN COURT in lawsuits. Same goes for cat food, some people would spread it on their sandwiches like a liver paste spread. Dog or cat(it is just a paper label.) Kids have been nibbling on pet food for years AND THEY ARE STILL ALIVE. . My mom is Polish and I asked her what did they burn for heat in WW2. "Wood or peat". "There was a lot of peat." (Before the discovery of natural gas.) My mom is 89, she remembers like it was yesterday. She was 14-15 and collected peat from the ground for the cast iron stove. Dry grass was also used. Those people survived like the people before them and before them.
