  1. Think GERMANY WW2 Before Radio control. They were using bombs that had a slotted disk and the needle rode in the slot. Early toy cars worked the same way as it controlled the steering. Their putt putt rocket ( I believe it is called the V bomb went according to the disk rotation. There was a point where the motor shut off and then the bomb dove into the ground.. Not highly accurate but not affected by any radio interference either. Something like that maybe?
