It is strange, I never thought of them as dead. Just, not important anymore...or transformed into a non entity...or nothingness. So nothing impressionable. . Some actually served a purpose as bird food(grasshoppers). I knew in REALITY that grasshoppers did not drop in on ants(especially red ants (on the west coast) because we kids would catch big grasshoppers that made clicking sounds as they flew and pull off their jumping legs because we were little kids. We then took them the red ants nest and tossed in the live Grasshoppers to watch what would happen. Always the same results...the ants DESTROYED THEM and ate them up. . Those ants were not into eating vegetables...they would take on June bugs and other beetles eating them & if a bird died in the woods they would eventually find it and take it back to the nest, bit by bit. Definitely not grasshopper food that grasshoppers eat. . Any black ants were sugar ants or wood boring ants(not termites)in already rotting wood. Again, not grasshopper territory as it was wet and had fungii. So, the whole film is NOT WHAT HAPPENS IN REALITY. It is a made up story.
