(didn't invent it but promoted the hell out of it) This whole concept of dropping a load in the water and then taking water out to drink and cook with (Never crossed anyone's mind EVER?) Advances in dry toilet technology would have come so far if somebody thought about it back then. Especially in India, for there has always been millions of people there. Hell, they could have built a castle out of those big LOGS.
