Being is central BC there was 4 years of constantly white skies( as fires were burning to the N, and E, and out of Washington state. Basically all "lightning strikes" were the reason.   58. Right!!! That fire that happened in the Kelowna area a couple of years ago(2003).....that lightning strike hit near that island but on shore in an area that was designated "au natural" park. What ever classification that was. It was not to be logged or mined - it was how nature intended. It was like that forever. Not good enough to make a real park out of it as it was too rugged and too many gulleys. Jack pine(short squat trees was there). When lightning strikes it was picked up by Penticton weather tower. Most times fire will start and quickly go out on its own. That is usual. THIS TIME because it was in a gulley and a slight breeze was blowing away from the lake up the gulley, the fire stayed lite and spread up the gulley. . So there had never been a fire there, no forestry work done there Not even campfires got out of hand because it was just bushland. Nobody wanted to camp there. Maybe it took out 600 homes? Hard to remember, Mine was NOT one of them. Even MARS waterbomber was deployed once or twice. I scoped out the fire zone after the fire was out by rain. I kind of knew the area as being a place I don't want to visit again-so boring. . There were no houses, any made out of aluminum siding, they were GONE...the fire was so spotty. Here a house is gone and out in the field next door, say 75 feet, a plywood shed still stands. I went to the forest and there were numerous gopher holes(which I figured were tree roots) The fire was that hot that it burnt the roots underground. No blackened trees standing(like Smoky the Bear commercials). There was nothing. No blackened logs, only white ash. I went into a former subdivision....many houses were gone and many still stood unscathed. No rhyme or reason. The reason is the way the wind blew as it went up the gulley. . I was more amazed by the number of underground fires that were happening. So many gopher tunnel holes. . People built there again . Then the same happened on the West Side of Okanagan Lake in 2023 with 30MPH wind blowing up the valley. Many homes lost there and Lake Okanagan Resort(20 miles away). That has been there for over 30 years. . So it happens when it happens(maybe once in your lifetime)

So very few are human caused last year as we had a shed load of lightning and fairly hot weather(perfect for lightning strikes) Normally we get snow or rain that kill the underground fires that are burning roots of trees.

  110. No. Can't do that. You "GET a Trades Ticket after an additional few years of training in THAT FIELD. SO, you have to have several year of apprenticeship first. 4 or 7 or 10. The highest number goes to DOCTORS & LAWYERS. The system works. , I have guys who claim to know how to do plumbing & they didn't. I am not a licensed plumber, but I have gone in after the 'lying plumber" was there and had to tear walls apart to find out where THEY messed up "cooling down the entire heating system(boiler) in a multi story building. The guys charged plumbing wages and then most likely went to the bar or bought COKE, laughing about it as they gloat. They were qualified to rake leaves or cut grass. But not plumbing. One bad connection shut down the hot-water to warm water everywhere. A $2 part made it right before it got nasty cold in CANADA. You got to learn how to read and write. FRENCH I can do without. Algebra and Trigonometry I can do without. Sex education I can do without. . Chemistry I needed for making non blinding HOOCH. English I learned as I am using it right now+ typing as computers were not invented yet. Bookkeeping I learnt in school & by correspondence courses.. THEN & only then did I take a Trades course in college(which I had to pay for) So there is 3 years gone there.(You got to keep the teachers employed) Teacher apprenticeship probably takes 4 years. BEFORE THEY CAN APPLY TO A SCHOOL as Knowledgeable in 1 field.. Otherwise you would have IDIOTS TEACHING IDIOTS & GETTING "PAID FOR IT" with your money. . Most of these tradesmen R European. They had to learn English language first(on the job & that is a slow process there). Their apprenticeship takes 7 years in Europe. (and yes, they have the SAME equipment we have on this side of the pond.) . Another point. Will you TRUST a doctor that spent time on Google to do BRAIN SURGERY TO YOU;; or a Doctor who took the complete apprenticeship course (10 years)& has a few years under his belt, because you were in a car crash and you have head injuries because you were not wearing your seat belt? Yeah, it matters as it is your brain they are working on. You can't sue the doctor OTHERWISE YOU WILL LAY IN THE DITCH AND BLEED OUT. IT is all a gamble. It is what it is because it is your fault. Seat belt on and maybe you would have gotten a broken leg(which is an easy fix) In a year you have about healed. A crack on the noggin and you are still on medication just to control the seizures. You can never fly jet or drive big truck. Those are the rules. So you are stuck to factory work or store work or PLAYING IN A ROCK & ROLL BAND or invent something that is needed and make millions(very few are Mick Jagger type) or a decent living. with a decent steady wage is usually the best you can hope for.. . No way to have water towers because in the winter it gets to -30C(-20F) so water towers would burst. so every year they would have to be emptied or refilled...for another year of nothing happening.
