I as a kid know how hot a pile a manure gets. You can't keep your hands in it,once you have dug down to your elbows(hey, it is processed grass, it is not poisonous as people put on their food crops so they grow better because of the "fertilizer factor" If they can eat the food that grows in it, then the manure is not bad. It could reach compostable conditions in Washington state back in the 60's but usually it rains so cools down the pile. . So the fact a pile of turd caught on fire and led to something bigger in area is just circumstantial, so it makes the news. Regular manure piles that burn just burn in a heap or=No news story. News is hyping stuff up...which is not unusual for the news. Otherwise we won't pay attention except maybe not to have a manure pile near trees...or high grasses. Put it on dirt land. Then it just smokes.
