Obama should have learned that he needed to come with an EXTREME RADICAL RIGHT idea, and knowing that there will be a fight from the GOP, come through negotiation settling on a less extremist Left policy. [that is OK, as that was what he was aiming for] and he got it. He knew (from experience that the other side is going to fight any proposal) so make it extreme enough to get what he actually wanted in the end. This way it seems that both sides Win. . She may not have all the answers but it works in other developed countries.
