Looks like that list has not really changed much from the "70's FORD(fix or repair daily or found on road dead) Chrysler is better to DODGE IT completely What! No Lada? Jeep junk Nissan junk(it is still a Datsun) VW is a hit or miss. I put 1 MILLION MILES on my 1982 non turbo diesel 4 speed stickshift. They existed. Hell, I don't think I even changed the muffler. Drive train axles I replaced a few times (3?) as the rubber ripped. 75MPG Electrical hiccups I had and figured out how to fix it. Timing belt changes, I have done well over a dozen of them myself in my carport using a manual I got out of the Public Library. . I got a turbo model later with the same size diesel engine(1600cc) and I got 37 miles/gallon(which to me is terrible) and I could not make it a non turbo...becuz their fuel injection injects more fuel whether you use the turbo or not. That car lasted 350,000 miles. then was garbage. Nor could the motors be swapped as the body on my million mile car was rusted through. Time to tell VW to "F" themselves. . Now I got a Honda. It is OKay I guess. AS the price of gas is higher than diesel, I don't drive as much. It has an uncomfortable seat. It is probably unfixable (on the side of a highway)for myself. I have not read up on it yet.

Didn't you ever wonder why a V8 car with a 2 bbl carburetor can get 30 MPG auto transmission and a 4 cylinder small car can only get 28mpg(or less)?? That is BIG OIL working hand in hand with the car companies saying you can make little cars BUT THEY HAVE TO CONSUME the same amount of fuel as the V8 engine. Everybody thinks there is an unlimited oil supply and air pollution is no problem so long as BIG OIL & BIG AUTO make their money. That is SAD. KIND OF WHY I am rooting for Tesla(but not really) I am hoping the garage mechanic /inventor comes up with something that burns CO2 & emits O2 gas.

It is just not as exciting as it used to be. Reliable it still is. For awhile when they first came out they were that metallic blue car and were hoping to jump on the "Neat, cool car" FAD that the VW air cooled Beetle enjoyed for so many years but they got into the funk of producing new models (like American domestic brands) that were always changing. so parts were not swappable a few years later. VW stuck with the same old style from 1939 - first car in N.A. in 1953. It was unusual and basically stuck with that design hardly changing it and VW owners WAVED TO EACH OTHER as they drove past on the highway. Total strangers. Honda started to do that but their designs changed so it was not the neat little car anymore for it changed so much. No two models are the same and that is 1 year separating them, such as if I wanted extra wheel rims, I could go to the auto salvage yard IF I KNEW THE YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR AND THEY HAD A MATCH. VW hung onto making the same stuff year after year so basically the car could be 10 years different and the parts still matched. Waste not, want not. IMO
