  1.  @billyjack8119  On a diesel rabbit, you replace the same head gasket with a new same number of notches. It is factory measured(some are warped more than others) still within tolerances so long as you use the EXACT head gasket. Compression is440PSI But there is room for shaving so long as the engine does not have the thickest gasket(3 notch) In my case I warped the head and got a new head and new HG same notch as original . Did not have a problem reassembling and running it so block was NOT WARPED. BMW should also have those options. as optional HG. Compression is 180 PSI? Block should also be measured. No room for guessing. Block is tougher than head.

  2. Time to phone the auto salvage yards(aka junk yards) to ask for that kind of car with a motor. They are interconnected to other yards across the country. But I would take the block in to a better machine shop who would know THEY HAVE TO CHECK THE BLOCK FOR FLATNESS. (they don't guess in an offhand way). Maybe they had "stretch bolts" that were reused.(You can't do that) An engine machine shop would know that stuff. Many people think they can reuse HG when they can't so maybe this has not been torqued properly? as it has been in a shop more than once. Put in an old school V8
