Because it is there. Many people I have talked to did not know there was OTHER BROWSERS such as Mozilla which were more preferable to use over the changing I.E. browser that came with Windows. The whole idea of searching for whatever you want was not a concept easily understood. M$ is loaded onto the cheaper IBM type computers so price matters at that time. So if you use the I.E. browser you get windows type pages with advertising. Apple has an expensive computer. Google is a browser you got to look for and download and install.(much extra work) I am guessing that is the answer.

maybe we need a return of the buffalo in the millions so we can shoot at them out the rail car windows to bring back the Rail?

Keep it closer to the original styling, put 4 doors on it if you want and battery powered -OK. The first time I drove a 4 door saw what I was missing. (access to the rear)Love 4dr.

@NEVER--MIND Diesel is fairly well a clean runner BUT when it burns oil(high mileage cars do, you get the soot and black smoke as now the crankcase oil is part of the fuel mix. The commercial trucks put a million miles on the engine before they do an engine overhaul because it is burning oil. All engines wear out

In Australia, a pharmacist is called a "Chemist". He knows the reactions that various medications have with each other. (more knowledge than a Doctor) that they watch out for adverse interactions and will even call the Doctor when the medication prescribed is not in the best interest of the patient. . It still did not address WHY they charge so much. "The reason is because they can" My doctor avoids prescribing medication when it is not needed. He does not believe in the stuff. No single person is grinding up the formulation. Machines do that. Machines that run for basically "free" 24/7/365. Medical insurance is running a monopoly with no competition and no controls on regulating their greed. Less of a service and more of a "Pain in the asss." Government should clamp down on this monopoly like they have on oil & gas industries. . Most pharmacies have expanded their range of products. Food, snacks, cigarettes, magazines, perfumes, makeup, OTC vitamins, household sundries, as well as dispensing prescription medications& a post office. . Rare is the old time drug store that does just drugs & crutches. Floor space costs are too high to specialize. Wal-Mart & Costco and big grocery chains are examples of that.

@John Flaherty The roads are no longer fast as there are many traffic jams and airports get crowded & you are limited on what you can carry on a plane. Seems, it has been a long time since you were aboard a train-they can be very comfortable, and less stressful. & carry WiFi so you can do your work on the way to the office...or have a meal & a few drinks going home.

@dougwilson4537 The U.S. does not realize we burn a couple hundred acres(or square miles) every year and it hardly fazes B.C.'ers.

Then there is GERRYMANDERING which is definitely 3rd world politics.

In the U.S. there is fir, pine, balsam, spruce, cedar, hemlock. Mount Saint Helens took out a lot when it blew its top. These are all softwood lumber...it ignores the border.

Of course diesel fuel pumps were just there BEFORE Rudy Diesel invented the diesel engine.? So a good part of the early story is missing. Rudy ALSO HAD TO MAKE THE FUEL. Using plants he distilled oil. That is what he ran on. . Of course this fuel will not magically disappear. Farm equipment, jet aircraft use kerosene which is a close cousin to diesel (diesel engines uses either)kero does not get sludgy when weather turns cold so diesel at the pumps is switched over to kerosene for the winters), big ships will either go back to sails or they will use kerosene(diesel)...or go back to coal. The military tanks are diesel, big trucks are diesel so that won't change. Not in 100 years.

Rice in Beer? Are they nut bars?(Those in management) Sounds like a stretching ingredient.

National Parks belong to Everyone (from California to N.Y. and everyone in between. It does not belong to the President or forestry companies.

Just trying not to get "GIRL GERMS" works.

Fan base matters. VW once had that fanbase or cult with the air cooled Beetle.
1
Guess, what? The rest of the world will keep on trucking without the U.S.

You are looking at a good +40 years then. Porsche built good solid cars. If you can use the measure of VW air cooled Beetles.

The "Beetle" "There is MUCH MISSING FROM THIS STORY. There was the Karman Ghia sports car which was also a TYPE 1. along with the TYPE 1 2 door sedan. There was the Van/truck which was the TYPE 2, the station wagon was the TYPE 3, the 411 was the TYPE 4. Hitler just happened to be the political party in power "the Party in Power has the Money to invest in this." Hitler never rode in one, preferring a Mercedes Benz. . Besides the customers called it a Beetle, Bug. Not the dealer. The Type 1 died because the air cooled engine could not meet California air pollution guidelines. The next car was their FWD Rabbit/or Polo/ or Golf. Many countries got a different name badge for the same car. Jetta came later(still basically a Rabbit)which had electrical problems. . VW brought out the FWD "New Beetle"(so factory name) for a bloated roller skate on a Rabbit frame(so it had electrical problems). .Too much bling in a basic car so it cost too much. They outpriced themselves as Honda Civic was the new cute car which had heat and more reliable and cheaper. ...As for safety - in a head on collision with an air cooled beetle with a full tank of gas=hitting a v8 front engined car ( because fluid does not compress, nor does it explode into a ball of flames. (That is TV special FX with dynamite strapped to the car.) Most cars in the junk yard have not been on fire. Maybe 2 ?out of a 5000 cars.

My TV, Computer monitor and cell phone are all PLASTIC. No sand required. But I do fear the death of Sandpaper. Fortunately no sand in my liquor bottles which are made of plastic. & alcohol

We, the people have woken up to the fact that factories are totally automated (meaning NO JOBS for people). $70K??? can remain "your" dream. My feet still work. I am buying a horse & bike. Maybe even Chinese made car if the price is cheap. If it does the job, I do not care what badge it has. Same goes for the Muskmobile.
1
We can adjust...though I still have my horse and wagon.

Not always true. Some people are just smart, and just figured it out. Banting a Canadian discovered Insulin & made the drug cheap to treat all Canadian patients (like $25)& gave the patent away. I understand it costs $400 in the U.S. for the same drug. Manufacturing costs have not gone up nor has the drug changed. It is still Insulin...to treat diabetes. It is a "needle vaccine" I hate needles.

They are Chemists; not Doctors of any sort. At most they can give you a vaccination for the flu(someone is trained for that)

Though, they will never show the "HITS". You know that happens. It happens with parking cars.

China should design on what it already knows... the "Rickshaw Racer" or just for them the "Lickshaw Lemon" as Chinese cannot pronounce words starting with "L" so purposely named it using "L"

I lived there in 1964 on Vancouver Island and felt 1 shaker in the summer. None otherwise has ever happened there. You saw the coffee in the cup jiggle. Nothing special...but we all got outside just in case. Maybe there has been a few more jiggles. I was sleeping so nothing. Also, it does NOT SNOW on the coast because the ocean temperature is too warm....so it rains...ALOT. That is the Pacific NW, that includes Seattle and all U.S. cities to L.A. California. Canada don't get them Tornadoes, or twisters, or typhoons or earthquakes. Vancouver may get heavy gusts of wind but, you still walk to school in that. . Nearest activity was Mount St. Helens eruption(we saw on the NEWS but it was too far away to see it at all...as it was in the U.S. The wood framed house I worked in was +32000square foot 4 storey mansion. All wood frame, 13 bathrooms(that many toilets)145 years old in DT Vancouver

U.S. national parks are owned by all that live in the U.S.(not by any forestry company)...as they would go in and Clear Cut and leave a Desert. That is bad harvesting practices. Canada knows about that B.S....forestry companies cannot CC forests. They have to replant sapling trees to replace what was cut down. Or they do narrow block cutting so that the forests can reseed the ground naturally. Still gonna take 50 years.

There are many prewar houses standing in my town that are simple plywood dwellings (maybe 600sq.feet). Some were built before WW1(so over 100 years old) Asphalt or cedar shingle roofs last 30 years, then they need new shingles. Hot water tank lasts 15 years(then it rusts out & leaks); toilet may last 40 years before there is a problem with the flapper inside the toilet; maybe faucets leak or seize meaning replacement. AND styles and colors change and flooring changes.(it don't matter to me as it is just a passing fad....I was a house painter/tile setter/carpenter/plumber. Was healthy enough to reroof the roof on my own house myself replacing the asphalt shingles after 25 years. . Who stays in the same place for a long while? Few do. Just because people change jobs and MOVE TO A NEW CITY. So, new house. Very few people are KINGS or QUEENS and their house is THE center of town. . Slate slab roofs were always available...though the house had to be built stronger to hold the extra weight. They cost way more and sheet metal roofs were also available(but they were mainly used on barns or sheds....as they were tacky looking.

Don't see a problem. Park them like a Saturn 5 rocket...on their Tail. Or dig a hole in a field and plant them nose down. Or stick them in a lake like Lake Michigan. They get a good washing in and out.

Anti Theft device is a Standard transmission. Euro cars and Asian cars have them. Easier to FIX (if they EVER should break=super rare) "You have to concentrate when shifting?" I don't remember doing that(maybe the first couple days)Not even on a 13 speed commercial truck. Disadvantage of SS is sitting in SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC TIE UPS. 17-23MPH. Now there will be MORE. slow downs because of bad road/traffic designs. At LEAST the DRIVER is AWAKE! In automatics, they will fall asleep.

These people CHOSE THESE PROFESSIONS. They chose to take on the debt. The R&D has been paid for 1000 times over...so at some point it is Paid off. Remember without you, there is no need for the drug...or Doctor. As for living longer - that is NOT happening in the U.S. It seems the people that lived through WW2 are the ones that have long lives. My aunt is 98...in Germany. My mom is 87 and has outlived one younger doctor and the second one is in his60's and he figures she may outlive him. Those who lived through WW1 they were in their hundred's when they finally passed away. A different time & more walking.

What is a downer for Tesla is "I won't be allowed to fix it, modify it or anything." No want for that reason alone.
1
The U.S. acquired land to build a right of way for a highway. Why not use that right of way purchase and put down tracks instead which will reduce the number of cars on the road as people take the train.
