  1. A lot of English pronounciations of French words that sound "wrong" come in fact straight out of the Normand dialect of French. A particularly conspicuous example is the name "Willam". Ask an old Normand farmer to say "Guillaume", lol. And if you reconstruct medieval Normand French, the little differences almost vanish.
