Throughout the decades, they've worked very hard at deflecting from that racism by accusing conservatives of their own flawed moral character. They're the party of slavery; they're the party that terrorized black Americans after the civil war, including Jim Crow, the KKK, and gun control to prevent black Americans from defending themselves, their loved ones, and their property; the party that voted against and fillibustered the Civil Rights Acts of the '60s; the party that finally voted in favor of it so they could look like heroes in order to, in the words of Lyndon B. Johnson "keep those n*ggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years."
