  1. Yeah, you do have rust in Southern California. If you live in any beach city, town, or community from Santa Barbara to San Ysidro, right along the coast, you have rust as bad as anything in the rust belt or the deep south. Generally speaking, once you get about 5 miles away from the coast - in most areas - you get away from the salt air and humidity. In some areas, the semi-arid region that is Southern California comes right up to the ocean, as is the case in Malibu, up the coast toward Santa Barbara. And, it's worse in some beach towns than it is in others. Even in the same towns, you can have extreme rust, were just a mile or two away, you don't have hardly any. Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea can be really bad, but Solana Beach, just south of there, not so bad.
