First time I came across Hipsterbucks was in the Netherlands in 2014. They just weren't around here in Poland, except for a handful places in Warsaw and maybe some other big cities not including mine (I lived in Łódź, the third biggest city back then). Now? They're everywhere... I'm pretty worried about that spread, same thing as with grocery store chains in the '90s/2000s which pushed small independent shops out of business, or Uber increasingly undermining local taxi corporations. Gentrification business as usual... Looking at the prices in Poland, comparing dollar-to-dolar is not enough - if you compare it with purchasing power, you'll soon notice Starbucks will buck you over with prices, it's mighty expensive. That's why here it's mainly frequented by well-to-do people, upper middle class and above; popular locations are city centers and corporate office districts.
