  1. We already use fusion power with wireless energy transfer over infrared and visible light frequency range. And it's been the case for millions of years, before mammals were even a thing. What is there not to understand? :)

Building a sphere around any star would certainly disturb not only the processes taking place in the star's planetary system, but also the gravitational forces, leading to unforeseeable changes with potentially catastrophic effects. I would definitely not go in that direction. We, as a human civilization, have fucked up life on Earth already - let's not do the same elsewhere out of sheer greed mixed with ignorance. And I'm an advocate of de-growth of energy usage, as long as it comes with a growth of energy efficiency, and that's where technological progress should be directed.
