WTF? That's some insane and unintended social engineering pwnage... Should have never ever happened. C'mon corporations - get your shit together, review your processes! My home automation devices NEVER connect to anything in the internet and every one of them either is non-essential, easily replaceable or has manual override. I run them with an on-premise hub (Supla + MQTT) I personally installed on a Raspberry Pi, and if that thing tries to pull off some shenanigans, I'm quick to dig deep and tackle that.
