Reminds me of how I went to a customer to fix a two or three decades old cooker and she told me she called some other repair guys who bullshitted her by saying that the appliance is too far gone and can't be repaired. I bet they didn't even take the panel off, because when I did, it was all just a matter of replacing a piece of wire and a spade connector. Bam, half an hour total and it's working again. The customer was very happy as the cooker had non-typical dimensions (by today's standards) and she'd have to discombobulate her whole kitchen to replace it.
