Hey :) I'm all for severe and unavoidable penalties for the corporations, but make them financial - like a penalty equal to 10...25% of the company's yearly revenue. Even more so if we're talking about tax fraud :) Putting someone - even a CEO, COO etc. - behind the bars won't stop that Amazon, Apple or Facebook or whatever other giant we're talking about from doing their abusive practices - it'll just put one person in jail, and the corporation will hire someone else. Generally I think jail as a penalty is waaaaaaay overused both in the US and here in Europe; its original purpose was to isolate the perpetrator from the society to ensure that both the actual and potential victims stay safe. It makes a whole damn lot of sense in case of e.g. murdereres, rapists, thieves, bandits etc. but not for economic criminals, where reparative justice (fines, cease&desist etc.) is the way to go and jail time should be ordered for repetitive offenses only.
