  1. Got an old Bosch made in the 2000s, thinking of adding an ESP8266 controller for remote control and sensing via Home Assistant... Automation is nice but it needs to be optional, not necessary; must be fail-safe; should be resistant to any manufacturer's whims or factors outside owner's control; should use well documented non-proprietary protocols.
