It remaineda Church for majority of its time, Till 1453, When Ottaman Turks laid 3 months of siege and captured Byzantine Christian Empire and made it part of "Ottam Empire", It has remained that till now.

We Hindus were always struggling to befree from Islamic Rule, Long before British arrived on our Soil, Shivaji Maharaja, Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Rana Sangha, Guru Gobindh Singh Ji all are Freedom Fighters of this Era. RSS supports this Freedom Struggle Movement - The right for HIndus to be Free in their own Homeland, Not living under Feet of some Mughals, British or Leftists and their Ideologies like Sharaia Law, Secularism or Communism. So from that context, Gandhi, Nehry are seen as "New Coming Babies" in the context of timeline of Hindu Fredom Struggle, Which ahs been going on since 1200 years.
