Sadly most now either want to destroy the EU or retain it with all its flaws. Varoufakis and Tsipras started a revolution and then they lost control of it.

The majority of EU citizens that is against the EU is so because the EU is right-wing, or at least a lot of them. Leftists long opposed the EU, but you wouldn't know that.

The parliament has no power. It is just a set of treaties, and powerful countries (usually Germany) are the ones who enforce it. This was however completely undemocratic as Germany had all the power and dominated smaller countries (in many of which WWII is still vividly remembered). The parliament is just now getting more power in an effort to make the EU more democratic.

The important thing now is making sure no other country gets ruined like Greece from more powerful countries, and if possible save Greece from where it is. Even more important is to find a way to cope with the refugees and migrants, who are under tremendous suffering while they are dehumanised and used as a political bargaining chip.

The Council already nominated the President of the largest party in the Parliament in the last election, like Presidents or Kings do. 4/10 is too little, less than is needed in most countries. 6/10 or 7/10 would be better. Certain decisions have to be unanimous, or else countries will leave the EU if there is a decision they particularly don't like.

It's not about the brand. Germany dominates economically while poorer countries like Greece are essentially turned into colonies.

You are going a little too far to the past. The modern revolution started by the economic crisis of 2008 and exploded in Greece in 2015 against globalist capitalist institution and neo-colonialism. It was a left-wing movement. Right-wing opposition to the EU has been scattered and the only serious attempt was after Brexit (maybe if he wasn't assassinated he would have brought it earlier). The left was the original opposition to the EU and the ECC since at least the 1980s.

But then it would create an completely new and immensely powerful new institution at Brussels. I don't think people or governments are ready for that kind of centralisation, even though it could increase transparency. Of course we should also reform the fully European institutions, because they aren't that democratic, with leaders cycling in between EU and national offices, and sometimes even other organisations like the IMF.

I have to ask you a question, how do you think it handled the migrant crisis? Because people usually see a different picture from reality.

I don't really get that. Culturally they are mixed.

That's the huge myth about Germany. They said that they would take refugees to help other EU countries, but in reality they only took what they needed to fix the demographic problems. They sorted out the "best" refugees and they deported the "bad" ones back to smaller countries. Just in August I heard about yet another deportation to Greece, and it's been three years since the initial crisis. We are of course talking about refugees, Germany sent all the economic migrants back where they came from, and I believe Italy managed to do that to. I believe Greece is the only country that took in migrants because its bureaucracy can't distinguish them, but they were a small percentage of the arrivals in Greece anyway.
