  2.  @Danhurd  No one parses conversational English more than the comment sections...lol. But this OP did make me think about how, in a perfectly straight river which exists only in a theoretical world, drop in elevation would determine the greater deposits...meaning that slow flat areas downstream of a rapids should contain the most gold. Now, if there was an inside bend on a river just at the bottom of rapids, it would be the best area.

  3.  @Danhurd  Oh, btw, I don't pan in my area, but I do fish. The fish know that the inside bend just following a set of rapids tends to be where the food drops out best, so it's where I like to fish.
