While understanding and supporting the words of Raskin, I also realize I do so not because of the letter by his name, but because his actions bolster his words. My sense is that we could achieve much more for our country by dropping all labels and having our elected stand on accomplishments rather than on party. I see too many in each party use the divisions in politics as a means to hide. Would an MTG or Gaetz or Sinema be electable were it not for the letter by their name? The closest I can come to this ideal (and I know I'll take flak for it) is Manchin. He is electable in a deep red state not for the letter by his name, but by the actions taken for his constituents. They feel represented by Manchin. Let's work to tear down these walls rather than reinforce them. Non-partisan elections would help make each representative more responsive to the electorate. There is too much time, energy and money spent on partisanship. Removing the raison d'etre would also tame the mediasphere and perhaps tame the angst of the viewership. There is a(n) (unnamed) corporation reaping billions off the politics of division and they have an enormous hold on almost half the country. Let us work to take the wind out of those sails. They can't sell division if there is none to be sold.
