  2.  @cryptic_badger795  Perhaps you don't understand the difference between a question and a statement. If I pretend to ask a question, but preemptively answer it, that is a statement not a question.

  3.  @cryptic_badger795  My question is an honest one. You seem to be sure that Ron Desantis or Vivek Ramaswamy could capture that base. I am not so certain of this.

  4.  @cryptic_badger795  I have see many posts by avid Trump fans stating that they do not trust either Desantis or Ramaswamy. Maybe you have seen them. They call Desantis a WEF stooge. They accuse Ramaswamy of just trying to capitalize on Trump's fame. That bodes ill for both.

  5.  @cryptic_badger795  I think the crux of the answer has to be approached in a multifaceted way. If Trump were not available in 2024, I feel that more establishment Republicans would trend towards Desantis while Trump's MAGA base would trend towards Ramaswamy. Which also raises questions. Desantis seems willing to contrast himself against Trump. Ramaswamy does not at all. In fact I think Ramaswamy is too overtly trying to capture Trump's lightening-in-a-bottle approach. I just don't think that establishment Republicans would trust him. That leaves the question of Desantis. If Trump were unavailable, would Desantis be able to sway enough MAGA base plus his more moderate backing to win? I don't know the answer.

  6.  @cryptic_badger795  I guess my question stems from pondering the wisdom of populism built mainly around a unique individual. There is no other Trump. If Trump were to run and to win, he would have only the single term available. Then what? It is possible, I guess, that Ramaswamy could spend four years gaining better geopolitical understanding (a failing IMO) to gain more trust of establishment voters. Or that Desantis could do better communication with MAGA voters (and learn what makes himself unpalatable to the same).
