@SteverRob Every oilfield that was open in 2019 is open today. The pandemic crushed demand. Many small drillers went nips up. Demand jumped back to prepandemic rates without supply and without an ability of production. All politics aside, this would have happened to any president.

@jays4170 I will say Biden was an idiot for making his public proclamations about big oil. It pissed 'em off and they were reeling after 2020. He should have quietly met with oil execs. It's almost a given that a president will put a freeze on the late-in-the-game actions of a predecessor, but it didn't need to be a fanfare item. Supply chain is a mixed bag. Definitely more action has been needed, but some things are out of the president's control. Put that one down to 50 years of farming out our own production. We have not been self reliant in a very long time. It's not the complete answer, but there have been massive corporate profits in certain sectors even during the shutdown. And cash give-aways were not targeted enough. Hell, I was given money I didn't really need/want in 2020 and 2021. And before you say it, no I didn't refuse the cash. I ain't no dummy. But I also knew what the results would be times 325 million. But no president picks his crises. Trump got covid which cooked his goose in 2020 and Biden gets inflationary pressures which have done him in. Was not impressed with the performance of either. I don't see Biden as capable of pulling this out, so we're in it for a couple more years. We need someone younger and more capable but I haven't seen him yet. I like Tim Scott's ideals, but don't know if he can muster the gravitas necessary to lead.
