That'd be a time period called the 1950s when a single factory worker could buy a house and support a family of four. High taxes on the highest incomes paradoxically means that the middle-class begins to pay the most in taxes because there's many more of us than 10%ers. The 50s also included yuge write-offs for reinvesting high earnings into your American business instead of out-sourcing or stockpiling in the Caymans...so there's that.
