There's a quote from a retired federal railway administration senior official: “Would ECP brakes have reduced the severity of this accident? Yes,” Steven Ditmeyer, a former senior official at the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), told The Lever. “The railroads will test new features. But once they are told they have to do it… they don’t want to spend the money.”

  5. @CNGuy1987 What we don't need is someone simping for Norfolk Southern. The CEO and the shareholders will be fine. NE Ohio and Western PA and WV, not so much. Now can we override the lobbyists? It's a shame, but probably not.
